We are proud and grateful that Bandcamp has chosen to spotlight our label, Tofu Kozo Records. As an independent label specializing in cassette tapes, every recognition is important to us. It shows that our hard work and dedication to quality music and design are appreciated.

As the cassette tape market is a niche that receives little media attention, every sale counts for us. The money raised from sales is reinvested in future projects and is also used to compensate the artists.

This recognition motivates us to continue our mission of discovering new artists and sounds through our label. We are honored that Bandcamp has acknowledged our work and hope to continue contributing to the cassette tape scene.

Visual aesthetics are a key element of our label’s identity at Tofu Kozo Records. We draw inspiration from Japanese culture to create a unique universe around the cassette tape and the music offered. We see the Tofu-Kozo as a child offering a cassette tape, and strive to re-appropriate the cassette tape object to create an immersive listening experience connected to the beatmaker’s universe.

We believe that coherence between music and design is essential to create a unique and coherent listening experience for the audience. When an artist signs for a cassette tape with us, we create an album cover that perfectly reflects the aesthetic of the music proposed, immersing ourselves in their universe.

In short, we attach great importance to visual aesthetics at our label, Tofu Kozo Records, because we believe that physical music is more than just a recording; it is a complete experience.

At Tofu Kozo Records, we always have new projects in mind to continue discovering new artists and sounds through our label. We have a new cassette tape in preparation, but we cannot say more at the moment. We are excited to share this new release with our audience, but one thing to note: it may challenge your sensibilities.

In the longer term, we hope to continue contributing to the cassette tape scene by discovering new artists and creating a unique universe around each cassette tape release. We believe that cassette tapes have a promising future, and we are determined to continue developing our label to be part of this evolution.
